Les Parfums de Louis Vuitton Bottle a Shooting Star

A dancing flame illuminating the night sky, bottled, melted into a precious nectar in the colour of sunshine.

This year sees the release of Étoile Filante, the 12th addition to the Les Parfums Louis Vuitton women’s fragrance portfolio, joining a collection of scents inspired by the notion of travel and of moments suspended in time. Translated into English as “Shooting Star,” Étoile Filante is inspired by light dancing across the night sky, a symbol of joy, of happiness and of hope- a realisation of dreams and an illumination of a brighter future.

To translate that joy, that hope, into scent, Louis Vuitton Maître Parfumeur Jacques Cavallier Belletrud selected the osmathus flower, an ingredient he has long adored. “Osmathus was my first revelation amongst raw materials,” says Cavallier Belletrud. “Its marvellous scent, as well as [its] name that evokes distant horizons, immediately fascinated me.”

The osmanthus flower, a naturally fruity, almost apricot-spiked bloom, sits at the heart of the fragrance, flanked by notes of velvety jasmine and fresh magnolia, all of which sit like a soft, white floral veil upon the skin. The perfume opens on a top note of strawberry, free from saccharine sweetness and instead tart, as if ripened by the sun. The parfum dries down to a base of delicate white musk, leaving the skin with a clean, bright fragrance reminiscent of a warm, spring night.
