Gemma Watts, Melbourne, Glow Journal

Described by VOGUE Australia as being “at the top of the beauty game,” Gemma Watts has been a part of Australia’s media landscape since early 2012, working as a journalist and presenter across the fashion and beauty spheres.

Having garnered a reputation as the beauty industry’s go-to MC, Gemma has hosted the Meccaland main stage as well as national launches and events for Myer, Lancôme, La Roche-Posay, La Mer, Armani Beauty and Ralph Lauren, live Australian exclusives with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jen Atkin, and presented as a key note speaker at VOGUE Codes, the Facebook Beauty Summit and Business Chicks’ 9 To Thrive.

2016 saw Gemma launch glowjournal.com, an editorial platform featuring only the very best in beauty. September 2018 saw Gemma launch the Glow Journal podcast, giving listeners a behind the scenes look at the business of beauty. The podcast reached Number 1 on the iTunes Arts Chart within hours of launching, peaked at 14 on the National iTunes Chart across all categories that same day and was featured in the Number 1 spot on iTunes’ New & Noteworthy after just two episodes. The Glow Journal podcast has since received global press, with Nylon Magazine naming the podcast one of the world’s Best Beauty Podcasts. Gemma also directs Glow Journal Creative, boutique copywriting and tone of voice development studio, specialising in Australian beauty, design and wellness.

Prior to launching Glow Journal, Gemma held her role as a Fashion Editor for 5 years, spending 2 of those years working simultaneously as a contributing Beauty Writer and eventually Editor for L’Oréal Paris Australia’s advertorial website.
