A trek to the very peak China’s Yulong Mountain, the essence of Antigua island, a fusion of aqua, air and crystalline florals and a new interpretation of the rose- the four new fragrances of Armani Privé’s Les Eaux collection celebrate raw ingredients and take inspiration from Mother Nature.
2020 heralds a new chapter for Les Eaux, the most fresh and vibrant of Giorgio Armani’s four Armani Privé Haute Couture fragrance collections. The four new scents- Thé Yulong, Gardénia Antigua, Rose Milano and Jasmin Kusamono- each pose an invitation to an olfactory journey to the places that inspire Mr Armani the most.
In keeping with its namesake, Thé Yulong celebrates the smoky freshness of the green and black tea trees that sit atop the Yulong Mountain of China’s Yunnan region. The smoke of wood and black tea and the freshness of green tea are joined by a burst of citrus in the form of mandarin and lime for a fragrance that wears as green and fresh on the skin.
Inspired by Japanese florals is Jasmin Kusamono, an airy and almost aquatic white floral that opens on a bright Nashi pear and pink pepper accord and develops to a floral, salty combination of Lily of the valley and Sambac Jasmine before drying down to musky, woody notes of cedar and santal.
Rose is reinvented in Rose Milano, described as a “tribute to Milanese elegance,” with earthy smoky notes of patchouli and moss and luminous citrus allowing the otherwise traditional floral to shine.
On the Glow Journal desk sits Gardénia Antigua- the white floral fragrance for the generally floral averse. Still a white floral fragrance at its core, the island-inspired Gardénia Antigua doesn’t wear as powdery as many scents within its family and instead inspires an almost milky note. The fragrance opens on notes of mandarin and neroli developing into a heart soft gardenia, finally settling into a base of patchouli, white musk and ambergris- the latter giving the fragrance a near animalic quality.
