There are very few women in beauty who have inspired me in the way that Violette has.
Going well against the grain of the cream contours, cut creases and overdrawn lips that have gained several international makeup artists notoriety in recent years, Violette’s approach to beauty is driven by art- she favours skincare over foundation, instead focusing on fresh skin and using colour and texture as her point of difference. “Even when I put creative makeup on a woman, it has to be because she’s a source of inspiration,” says the Paris native. She never disappears behind it- she’s celebrated.”
This ethos underscores Violette’s first colour collection for Estée Lauder since her appointment as the brand’s Global Beauty Director. Aptly named Poppy Sauvage, the collection is inspired by the artist’s memories of spring with the “one-of-a-kind fire-red that you can only see on the poppies in France” serving as the offering’s centrepiece.
This red is at its most vibrant in the Pure Colour Envy Paint-On Liquid Lip Colour, a matte liquid lipstick in Violette’s signature hue. This is quite possibly the most comfortable liquid lip colour I have ever worn. It didn’t dry my lips out and wore comfortably for upwards of 6 hours with only one touch up.
The Poppy Sauvage collection delivers two additional lip colours in the form of Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Lipsticks– Poésie, a soft rose, and Vin Noir, a sexy bordeaux, both with a satin finish. For French girl style, Violette’s advice is to “apply, then blur lip edges with lip brush to soften.”
A product I’d deem a hero of the collection is the Soft Glow in La Rosée, a cream illuminator pot designed to add a kiss of “morning dew” to the complexion. The effect is precisely that- dew, not shimmer, to catch and diffuse the light. This product lends itself to application with the fingers, as is Violette’s modus operandi for just about everything.
The Pure Colour Envy Sculpting Blush Duo is one of the most flattering complexion combos I’ve ever worn. Both the bronzer, Soleil Doré, and blush, Camélia, worked well on my complexion and have a subtle shimmer pigment through them which wears beautifully on the skin as the pigment is subtle enough to be dusted across the entire face. Both blended beautifully and didn’t feel too powdery or chalky on application.
While I’ve not tried the eye crayon, the Sculpting Eyeshadow 5 Colour Palette ticks every eye makeup box for me. All five shadows are incredibly pigmented and, despite being powders, are creamy enough to apply with the fingers which is what I’ve done in the photos below. All five sunset-inspired colours have varying levels of shimmer and lasted equally well on my skin- eight hours without creasing nor fallout. “Always keep your design a little uneven, imperfect and smudgy,” says Violette. “Voila- French eyes.”
While not for public sale, I do need to express my gratitude to Estée Lauder Australia as this was one of the most beautiful press sendouts I have received to date. The collection was housed in a wicker bucket bag with red leather detailing (pictured above) and was wrapped in a Poppy Sauvage inspired silk scarf (pictured below).
The Estée Lauder Poppy Sauvage Collection by Global Beauty Director, Violette, is available now exclusively via the Esteé Lauder website.
Products have been supplied by Estée Lauder however all opinions are, as always, my own.
The most beautiful collection, can’t wait to get my hands on it. Your images and words are stunning as usual.

The most beautiful part of the collection is the bag. I would honestly buy it, if they selled it!
