In partnership with Biolage Australia.
I have long been hesitant to make hair care recommendations.
While I’m acutely aware that this will sound like a brag, and for that I apologise, I think it’s important for me to admit that I’ve never had to work particularly hard in order for my hair to appear healthy. It has its ups and downs, however it has always been naturally fast-growing and, despite the strands themselves being quite fine, I’ve always had a lot of it.
This in mind, I would feel disingenuous recommending a haircare product that didn’t deliver a marked difference in my hair- which is why I’m so excited to be partnering with Biolage, a brand that is committed to becoming the world’s most sustainable professional haircare brand by 2025, and a brand that has genuinely been transformative on my hair health.
I began trialling Biolage over two months ago, right as the winter cold snap officially hit, and a time that has historically pushed my hair into dry territory. Within four weeks of exclusive Biolage haircare use, I found that my hair had resisted the usual effects of the winter chill (breakage, shedding, a lacklustre appearance- nothing major, but certainly things I notice in my own hair) and had taken on a glossier, bouncier appearance than I’d seen in some time.
Following that first month, I committed to taking up swimming at my local pool a few mornings each week (a story for another time). Knowing that chlorine is the enemy of healthy hair, I resigned myself to the fact that my renewed interest in the sport would be at the detriment of my hair health.
As it turns out, my resignation was unnecessary.
I continued my Biolage routine, only washing and treating the hair when necessary (I am a big believer that you shouldn’t have to use a product more than the recommended amount in order to see real results), and have had confirmation from more than one hairstylist that I am, in fact, winning my personal war against chlorine. Here’s how I’ve survived both winter and repeated soaks in a chlorinated pool without a split end (or even a hair cap) to speak of:
- 1. Biolage Ultra Hydra Source Shampoo. I wash my hair using the Biolage Ultra Hydra Source Shampoo two to three times each week (depending on how many times I swim), using the shampoo to cleanse out chlorine and regular buildup without stripping the hair of essential moisture.
- 2. Biolage Ultra Hydra Source Conditioner. I follow my shampoo with the Biolage Ultra Hydra Source Conditioner, adding moisture to the hair without ever weighing it down. Steps one and two have been formulated to deliver 72 hours of moisture and frizz control, meaning I don’t feel I need to wash and treat my hair unless it’s truly necessary.
- 3. Biolage Ultra Hydra Source Daily Leave In Cream. After rinsing out my conditioner, I apply the Biolage Ultra Hydra Source Daily Leave In Cream, working it through the lengths of my hair while still damp to lock in moisture.
- 4. Biolage Deep Treatment Pack. A product I consider to be my hair hero, I apply the Biolage Deep Treatment Pack once a week, for around five minutes at a time, to give my hair a salon-quality treatment as well as shine, gloss and bounce from home.
The Biolage Ultra Hydra Source range is available now via Hairhouse.
