MECCALAND officially opened today, with three days of masterclasses, exclusive beauty launches and one-on-ones with global lead artists from all of your (my) favourite brands.
Meccaland ticket holders are granted exclusive early access to a number of products that are yet to go on sale in Australia, but if you’re watching the action from home you’ll be able to snap up these new launches in store in the coming months (most of the Meccaland launches will hit Mecca Maxima shelves across May, June and July).
To celebrate Australia’s first ever festival of beauty, here’s your definitive guide to the products launching at Meccaland this weekend.
The product that is, according to multiple Meccaland staffers, the most talked-about product launch of the festival is the GlamGlow #GLITTERMASK. All the benefits of GlamGlow’s original GravityMud Firming Mask are packed into this pot of sparkles, which promises to deliver firm, taut skin after one 20 minute treatment.
GlamGlow #GLITTERMASK GravityMud Firming Treatment, $86
Nars are launching three of their Spring palettes at the festival- the Danger Control Eyeshadow Palette and the Wanted Cheek Palettes, versions I and II. Danger Control delivers six pans of holographic eye colour, while the Wanted Cheek Palettes include blush and highlighting options for every skin tone.
Nars Danger Control Eyeshadow Palette, $71
In what I deem to be a truly genius launch, MAC have combined two of their all time best selling products into one dreamy bottle. MAC Fix+ Pinklite marries the brand’s cult Prep and Prime Fix+ spray with the shimmering properties of their Strobe Cream to create a complexion-boosting setting spray that I can only describe as an Instagram filter in a bottle.
MAC Fix+ PinkLite, $36
Urban Decay‘s Petite Heat palette hits Australia at Meccland, featuring six all-new matte, neutral shades inspired by the brand’s original Naked Heat Palette in a travel-friendly compact.
Urban Decay Petite Heat Palette, $47
A global first, Stila have released a Meccaland exclusive shade of their Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow, aptly named Beauty Junkie. The shimmering hot pink shade delivers the same pros of the rest of the Glitter & Glow range- intense colour, zero fallout and a non-creasing formula.
Stila Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow in Beauty Junkie, $35
The entire Smashbox x Vlada capsule collection has launched at Meccaland in all its liquid chrome glory. My pick? The Petal Metal Primer which washes the skin with a subtle metallic, rose gold sheen(inspired by Vlada’s iconic artwork) to ensure a lit-from-within glow regardless of your foundation preferences.
Smashbox x Vlada Petal Metal Primer, $57
Meccaland festival goers can also be treated to a complimentary Kate Somerville Oxygen Facial upon arrival at the Kate Somerville booth as well as picking up a bottle of DermalQuench, the take-home, facial in a bottle equivalent of the brand’s signature treatment.
Kate Somerville DermalQuench Liquid Lift, $138
Skincare junkies can enjoy a pre-release of Mario Badescu‘s new Facial Spray With Aloe, Chamomile And Lavender, the lavender spiked alternative to the brand’s award winning Rosewater spray.
Mario Badescu Facial Spray With Aloe, Chamomile And Lavender, $8
Drunk Elephant have released two new, limited edition skincare kits- the Acid Trip trio (described to me as “all good acids, no bad trip”) and a new collection of The Littles, both ideal for maintaining a clear complexion in transit.
Drunk Elephant Acid Trip Kit, $117
Also pre-launching at Meccaland is the complete Too Faced Life’s A Festival collection, packed with ethereal, unicorn-inspired colours and festival-ready textures. My picks? The Unicorn Horn Mystical Effects Highlighting Sticks and La Creme Mystical Effects Lipsticks (the blue shade, Unicorn Tears, looks blue in the bullet then transforms to a soft mauve as it touches your lips).
Too Faced Unicorn Horn Mystical Effects Highlighting Stick, $41
Too Faced La Creme Mystical Effects Lipstick, $32
Several Ciaté London products are launching at the festival, the most-buzzed about being the Glitter Flip lip colours. These highly-pigmented liquid lipsticks are a metallic matte on application, but when the lips are pressed together the transform into a multi-dimensional shimmer.
Ciaté Glitter Flip, $27
Mecca Maxima’s signature line, MECCA MAX, has garnered a cult following due to its high quality products, trend-driven launches and accessible price points. The in-house brand launch three new intergalactic products this weekend- Galactic Glosses (high-shine lip glosses without the tack of a regular gloss), Interstellar Eyeshadows (cream shadows with a metallic finish) and Holographic Jellies (iridescent glosses designed to catch the light- PERFECT on the collarbone).
MECCA MAX Galactic Glosses, $20
MECCA MAX Interstellar Eyeshadows, $22
MECCA MAX Holographic Jellies, $22
Ren‘s Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic has finally landed on our shores, a Lactic toner gentle enough for everyday use and effective enough to deliver an instant glow.
Ren Ready Steady Glow Daily AHA Tonic, $61
The perfect gift, Grown Alchemist (a long-time personal favourite brand of mine and a new addition to the Mecca roster) have released their Hydra Care Kit, comprised of hydrating hand cream and facial mist.
Grown Alchemist Hydra Care Kit, $30
Haircare junkies have not been forgotten, with Bumble & Bumble releasing their Pret-a-Powder Tres Invisible Dry Shampoo into Australia at the festival. This dry shampoo contains French Pink Clay, absorbing excess oil, detoxifying the hair and drying clear for fresh tresses between washes.
Bumble & Bumble Pret-a-Powder Tres Invisible Dry Shampoo, $43
Fortunately for those who missed out on a ticket to the sold-out festival, several international powerhouse brands have released products that are available for purchase in Mecca stores as we speak.
What’s featured at Meccaland that you can purchase right this very second? YSL’s Tatouage Couture Matte Lip Stains, Origins’ Ginzing Refreshing Eye Cream, Hourglass’ Vanish Flash Highlighting Sticks, Billion Dollar Brow’s Universal Brow Pencils, Dermalogica’s Meet Dermalogica Skin Care Kit and the complete BareMinerals Gen Nude collection.
All products have been supplied by Mecca Brands however all opinions are, as always, my own.
