Timelessness and longevity of wear are paramount when it comes to bridal beauty. While there are few beauty looks more timeless than a red lip, there are also few things more difficult to maintain.
Sarah Laidlaw’s take on the red lip makes this classic look wedding day appropriate. Under the direction of VAMFF’s 2018 Makeup Director, models sported red lips with a matte finish for the annual Bridal runway. A matte lipstick, case in point Rimmel’s The Only 1 Matte Lipstick in the shade Take The Stage, is notoriously longer wearing than its gloss or satin finish counterparts. The lip colour was blended ever-so-slightly into the lip line for a worn in look, meaning subtle smudging and wear throughout a wedding day wouldn’t ruin the overall look- had the lip line been precise and the finish glossy, even the slightest wear would have been noticeable and regular touch-ups a necessity.
Feel a rich red lip is more bold than bridal? Try paring it back with dewy, glowing skin, lightly flushed cheeks and minimal eye makeup for a decidedly fresh look.
