New arrivals from an exisiting cult skincare brand, the landing of a US icon on Australian shores and a reincarnation of one of the world’s best-selling products- these are the products that have convinced me that one Beauty News piece this month was not nearly enough.
NARS, the undisputed masters of cheek colours, have released their Mosaic Glow Blush this week in a limited edition hue, Fireclay. The pan combines a blush, bronzer and highlighter (the blush feels brighter than Orgasm but within the same realm, while the bronzer wears similar to Casino) and the “mosaic” is designed to be applied after swirling a brush through all three colours.
NARS Mosaic Glow Blush in Fireclay, $64, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
If NARS are the cult leaders in blush, then Urban Decay are leading the eyeshadow palette charge. Reloaded, the newest member of the Naked Palette family, serves as the brand’s first palette launch for 2019 and while the brand claims that all of the shades are new, it does feel as though this palette has pulled the best bits from previous Naked palettes- I am a BIG FAN. Notable inclusions are Barely Baked, 2019’s version of Half Baked (found in Naked 1 and 2, and my all-time favourite Urban Decay shade), Bucked, eerily similar to Buck, and Retro, which feels like a play on the orange pops within the Naked Heat palettes.
Urban Decay Naked Reloaded Eyeshadow Palette, $69, available via Mecca Maxima.
New from Kevyn Aucoin are the Emphasize Eye Design Palettes, each housing five powder eyeshadows and a foiled liquid shadow. Pictured is the As Seen In palette, comprising four mattes and one shimmer across neutrals, chocolate and violet.
Kevyn Aucoin Emphasize Eye Design Palette, $70, available via Mecca Maxima.
This week also sees news arrivals in fragrance, beginning with Ellis Brooklyn’s Myth Hydraparfum. Myth is, arguably, the fragrance house’s most popular scent (and a personal favourite of mine), and this new formula sees the fragrance take the shape of a scented gel, designed to be spritzed over the skin, hair and clothing.
Ellis Brooklyn Myth Hydraparfum, $107, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
Gentle Fluidity serves as my introduction to Maison Francis Kurkdjian, with both the Gold and Silver editions landing on Australian shelves this week. Both unisex fragrances are composed of the very same 49 notes, each rearranged to create two distinctly different scents. On my desk sits Gold- a blend of vanilla and musk that settles into woods and spices.
Maison Francis Kurkdjian Gentle Fluidity Gold EDP, 261, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
Stila celebrate several new arrivals this month, beginning with their new Shade Mystère Liquid Eyeshadow formula. The shades are “marbelised” with each tube containing two hues formulated to blend together to create one iridescent hue. While I am yet to try this particular product, I am yet to meet a Stila liquid eyeshadow that hasn’t over performed. This month also sees the launch of two new shades in the brand’s Glitter & Glow collection- Plum On and Dollish.
Stila Shade Mystère Liquid Eyeshadow, $37, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
Stila Glitter Magnificent Metals Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow, $37, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
The existing Glitter & Glow fans will laud the release of a new travel-sized trio this week. All Fired Up contains three limited edition, firey shades- Sunset Fire, Follow The Sun and Burnished Sienna.
Stila All Fired Up Glitter & Glow Liquid Eyeshadow Set, $37, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
A slightly more polarising release (that I am yet to trial) from Stila is the Lingerie Soufflé Skin Perfecting Colour- a “tinted skin perfector” formulated with the texture of a light mousse, the finish of a sheer, dewy veil and coverage akin to a wash of colour. Less polarising/widely lauded is the new In The Buff Powder Spray, a setting powder in aerosol form that works to blur and mattify.
Stila Lingerie Soufflé Skin Perfecting Colour, $58, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
Stila In The Buff Powder Spray, $46, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
Westman Atelier, the brainchild of celebrity makeup artist Gucci Westman, landed in Australia this week, and these products are quite literally everything I want from makeup. I attended one of Gucci’s masterclasses this week, and will reserve a full review for a dedicated Glow Journal story. This stuff is the goods.
Westman Atelier Vital Skin Stick Foundation, $104, available via Mecca Cosmetica.
Westman Atelier Lit Up Highlight Stick, $73, available via Mecca Cosmetica.
The Westman Atelier ethos is all about “your skin but better,” but that finish can only be achieved by using very lovely skincare products as base prep. Cult favourite skincare brand Sunday Riley have released a number of new (new to us, not the rest of the world- why is this still happening?) products into Australia this week. On my desk sits the C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum, Auto Correct Eye Contour Cream and recently reformulated Ceramic Slip Cleanser.
Sunday Riley C.E.O. Rapid Flash Brightening Serum, $130, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
Sunday Riley Auto Correct Brightening and De-Puffing Eye Contour Serum, $99, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
Sunday Riley Ceramic Slip Cleanser, $54, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
Dr. Dennis Gross is known for his Alpha Beta Peels in varying strengths, and this week sees the launch of the brand’s Clinic-At-Home Kit- a set designed to deliver an at-home, salon-strength facial via the Alpha Beta Extra Strength Daily Peel, Pore Perfecting Cleansing Gel and Exfoliating Moisturiser.
Dr. Dennis Gross Clinic At Home Kit, $168, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
Fusing both skincare and makeup is the Kosas Tinted Face Oil, a product that isn’t new to Australia but is new to me, and is too beautiful not to discuss. You can read a complete review here and here. What is new from the brand is the Violet Fury shade of Weightless Lip Colour- a fierce, limited edition magenta.
Kosas Tinted Face Oil, $64, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
Kosas Weightless Lip Colour, $43, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
Another new shade in an existing fan-favourite lip colour is Coral, the latest edition to the Mecca Cosmetica Lip De-Luscious Glide- a hydrating lip balm, formulated base on the signature line’s potted balms, reimagined in tube form.
Mecca Cosmetica Lip De-Luscious Glide with SPF 15, $30, available via Mecca Cosmetica and Mecca Maxima.
