When Lancôme Australia Artistry Director Lara Srokowski was called upon by the power duo behind Acler to create a beauty look for their Resort ’19 runway, the brief she was delivered was simple: “We just want the models to look really cool.”
The result is a look centred around the makeup hue of the season- burnt orange. “I wanted the girls to look fresh and clean, but with this flush of orange,” Lara tells me. Each model’s skin has been prepped by a Lancôme expert using the beauty house’s iconic Parision Glow method, with Teint Idole Ultra Wear then applied to the skin with a light hand to deliver a sheer wash of colour.
A subtle hint of burnt orange has been applied to the cheeks in the form of L’Absolu Rouge Lip Cream in shade 164 Frenetique. “We’ve used a little bit of the lipstick as a cream blush, focusing on the high planes of the apples of the cheeks, rather than right in the centre of them,” says Lara. The colour is then blended up through the cheekbones and up towards the higher points of the face.
The same colour has also been applied to the eyes using a large, fluffy eyeshadow brush to buff the lipstick into the eye socket. The Belle de Teint Bronzer has been used as a transitional shade to give the eye a finish that Lara describes as “quite raw- it’s only lightly shadowed and sculpted. No mascara, no eyeliner.” Brows have been kept similarly raw, with product kept to a minimum and the hairs brushed up and lightly textured. This technique has worked to keep the focus on the pop of colour on the eyelids, with Lara explaining that by using lipstick as an eyeshadow, an almost glossy effect is added to the lids.
The look has been completed with a touch of neutral brown lipstick (L’Absolu Rouge Cream in shade 254) pressed into the lips beneath a hint of the aforementioned burnt orange to give the lips what Lara calls “a bit of freshness.”
